The Barn Dance is coming back to Rowington Village Hall on Saturday 10th March 2018. We will be joined by local Ceilidh band ‘5 Minutes to Midnight’, featuring a familiar WRGie face. Booking is now open on Cloud Venue, so come and show your support and your best moves whilst catching up with old friends! Raffle, dining and drinks as usual. All funds raised will go to support WRG's activities throughout the year. Look forward to seeing you there!
Over the last couple of years we have seen some pretty fantastic fundraising efforts from WRG volunteers – from marathons to Welsh mountains and boat pulls to barn dances. For sheer scale and endurance though, Paul Shaw’s recent Land's End to John O'Groats cycle may just take the crown for most ambitious feat yet!
On 20th June, Paul began a two week journey which would see him cover a 1,000 mile journey during some of the hottest days of the year - all whilst battling a thigh injury...
Congratulations to Paul on his fantastic achievement and thank you to all who have sponsored him so far – an incredible £3,000 has already been raised. Paul’s fundraising page will be accepting donations for another couple of months, for those who would still like to sponsor him or you can send a cheque to IWA (Island House, Moor Road, Chesham, HP5 1WA).
Following the successful completion of the Van Appeal last year, WRG has now bought all four new vans and they are already out and about on some of the many canal camps happening this summer. Have you spotted one yet?
On April 23rd 2017, waterways volunteer Matthew Rogers took on the UK's most popular endurance challenge - the London Marathon. It was Matthew's seventh marathon but his first time on this famous course; he completed the 26.2 miles in a fantastic time of 4 hours and 4 minutes and raised an amazing £2,033.
