Every year we run a Leaders & Assistants Training Day for volunteers running Canal Camps and for people interested in finding out what is actually involved and are maybe considering giving it a go.
In 2019 we are holding the training day on Saturday 18th May at Rowington Village Hall (Warwickshire). The format is very relaxed and inclusive – we definitely work on the “no stupid questions” principle. The day starts with bacon or veggie sausage sarnies from 10am. We expect to finish around 4.30pm but we will be providing dinner for those who want to stay on overnight – accommodation will be in the hall and breakfast will also be available.
This years theme is:
Improving Planning and Communication
The day's agenda will cover the following:
Session 1 – Essential Updates
Session 2 – Planning Session 1 – Working at Height
Session 3 – Planning Session 2 – How Many Volunteers for a Camp?
Session 4 – Planning Session 3 – Project Plans and Risk Assessments
Session 5 – What's Discouraging Current Leaders and Potential Leaders?
Session 6 – Heritage Leaders Training Workshop Feedback
Session 7 – Effective Communication
