Birmingham Canal

The Birmingham Canal runs from Aldersely Junction on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal to Worcester Bar at the junction with the Worcester & Birmingham Canal.  The Old Main Line of the Canal joins at Smethwick Junction and Tipton Factory Junction. The Birmingham Canal also has junctions with the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal (at Farmer's Bridge Junction via the Newhall Branch), the Wyrley & Essington Canal (at Horseley Fields Junction), Dudley No1 Canal (at Tipton Junction), and various small loops and branches.

The main line of the Birmingham Canal is 15.4 miles (24.8 km) long and has 24 locks.  The Old Main Line is 6.6 miles (10.6 km) long and has 3 locks.

The maximum size of boat that can navigate the Birmingham Canal is
length: 70' 11" (21.62 metres)
beam: 7' 4" (2.24 metres)
height: 7' 5" (2.26 metres)
draught: 4' 4" (1.32 metres)
