Ways to Volunteer with WRG!

Do something completely different whilst having fun, meeting new people ... and maybe getting a bit muddy. Last year our volunteers spent over 40,000 hours restoring the canals of England and Wales ... find out how to get involved!

Canal Camp Volunteers: Our working holidays are a great experience for anyone who loves being outdoors and enjoys meeting new people from different backgrounds and of different ages. We run over 25 week-long residential restoration Canal Camps every year on the derelict waterways of England and Wales. Canal Camps offer you a fantastic chance to learn new skills such as bricklaying, heritage restoration, machine operation and stone walling. Click here to find out more.

Weekend Volunteering: Do you have the odd weekend free? Are you interested in learning new skills, improving your bricklaying or honing your digger operating skills? Why not volunteer with WRG’s Regional Groups and spend a dirty weekend restoring a canal. Click here for more details.

Help run a Canal Camp: Every year WRG runs over 25 Canal Camps and this means we need to find leaders, assistant leaders and cooks to help us run the Camp.  As leaders and assistant you need to be able to give up a week, have some experience of Canal Camps, and most of all be willing to look after 18 wonderful volunteers! Click here to find out how to get more involved.

Get outdoors and dirty!

It's easy to  become a 21st century canal navvy!
